Golf course names from Ireland's south west just leap from the pages of golf publications all over the world. Ballybunion, Tralee, Killarney, Waterville, Adare and Lahinch. Ballybunion is on every golfers 'must play' links but the entire golfing experience in this area can only be described in superlatives.

There are direct flights to Shannon, Cork and Kerry Airports which get you there in no time. If the land route takes longer, it is well worth the effort. Traditionally, visitors are drawn to the south west by its classic mountain, lake, and seaside beauty. Today, visitors are still drawn by these environmental showpieces, but its golf is by far its most popular sporting attraction.

 

Some quite superb golf in the Shannon area with the highlight in oour opinion probably being Lahinch and its goats. If you like your golf in the Old Course style this is for you. The parkland courses at Adare and Dromoland are powerful tests and the new set up at Woodlands promises much...
