Celtic Links on Par and on Course

The difficulty in choosing your golf society outing or your touring itinerary for Scotland and Ireland is the sheer diversity of courses and destinations available. Wherever you look there's another "must play" or "hidden gem".

What we've done for 2005 is bring together some of our clients' favourite courses and given a brief overview of them all. The courses are sorted by area and give information on the style of course, some subjective comments and green fee and playing information.

Each month we'll feature a different "Six of the Best" to give you an idea of where to play.

Portmarnock Hotel & Links
Luxury 4 Star Hotel which overlooks the sea, only twenty minutes north of Dublin City. The course is the only PGA European Tour Golf Course in Ireland.

Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club
Located just outisde Troon and adjacent to main roads and Barassie railway station, this Open Championship Qualifying course is ideally placed. With twenty seven holes it is ideal for a corporate golf day or as part of your Scottish tour.

Ballyliffin Golf Club
This is truly Irish Golf at its best. Two courses at Ballyliffin provide for an excellent short break but the newer Glashedy Links is the masterpiece. With the roar of the Atlantic ever present the course provides a magnificent challenge that is as difficult to match as it is to master. Must Play...

Boat of Garten
One of the four courses being used for the inaugural Speyside Golf Classic in 2001, the Boat is just wonderful. Located in the heart of Speyside's whisky country with The cairngorm Mountains as the backdrop it is a superb course and rightly deserves the overused "Hidden Gem" tag.

Druids Glen Golf Club
Home to three Murphys Irish Opens in recent years, Druids Glen is one of the best parkland courses in the country and so it should be with the investment made in it. The course has signature holes in abundance and in places the August influence is apparent. A Great course for the annual golf trip!

Kingsbarns Golf Links
Rapidly becoming Scotland's version of The Old Head of Kinsale. The magnificent beast of a course will only add to St.Andrew's desirability as an overseas golf destination.  Magnificent links course and already much in demand for 2001 from The States.
