Includes
the Mull of Kintyre and the islands of Arran and Islay. It
may not have the breadth of accommodation seen in other parts
of Scotland but it certainly has the diversity of destinations.
The Isle of Arran is often quoted as Scotland in miniature
with lowland and highland Scotland apparent on either side
of the island. It’s only an hour and a half away from the
airport or ferry terminal. Argyll is a further short hop on
the ferry and if you fancy an extra couple of nights then
Islay with its famous peat based whisky distilleries will
please the connoisseur of the hop. The Mull of Kintyre as
immortalized by Mr. McCartney is to be taken at a slow pace.
Great fishing villages and wonderful lochs; a couple of most
restful days can easily be taken just sitting at Stonefield
Castle or Tarbert overlooking the loch watching the boats
come in with that evening’s dinner. Certainly not the easiest
place to explore but well worth the effort.
