Situated to the south of Belfast County Down makes for an ideal destination from
the ports and airports of Belfast and even Dublin. With a great mix of leisure and country
house hotels Down is perfect for touring, relaxation and particularly for the golfer.
Weve short breaks in luxury properties such as The Culloden or individual character
inns such as The Old Inn at Crawfordsburn or The Portaferry Hotel. The county has the
benefit of superb coastline with towns such as Bangor to the north with its cosmopolitan
feel and Newcastle in the south with the Mountains of Mourne as a backdrop. Some superb
links golf awaits with the world famous Royal County Down and other wee classics such as
Ardglass. Great parkland layouts include Royal Belfast or Clandeboye. Visitor attractions
both natural and man made abound amongst them the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is
worth a visit. Travel south and youll flirt with Strangford Loughs shores and
at its southern point take the short ferry crossing from Strangford to Portaferry. A
couple of days in Co. Down isnt enough but its a start.
