So you fancy the convenience of a short flight or ferry but want
a little bit more relaxed atmosphere. Well within an hour of the
ferry ports and airport you can take your pick of a wide selection
of coastal or inland destinations with some exquisite properties.
To the south of the city you can rub shoulders with the rich and
famous in Killiney or head further south into Wicklow - home of
Ballykissangel and the world famous Johnny Foxes Pub - and for the
golfer Druids Glen.
To the west is Co.
Kildare - if the five star luxury of The K Club, host to the 2006
Ryder Cup, is just too much for you then the superb facilities
at City West and its two golf courses will more than make up for
it. Heading north from the city Portmarnock is a Mecca for golfers
whilst the hotel provides a relaxing escape from the rush. Head
inland and northwards and one of our favourite hotels The Nuremore
at Carrickmacross offers the best of Irish leisure hotels - four
star facilities, excellent dining, fully equipped leisure facility
and its own eighteen hole golf course.
Theres certainly
more to the area than Dublin.
