The
Birth place of the Open and Unique in the history of the game,
without the foresight of the members of this famous club we would
not be treated to the annual spectacle of the Worlds most famous
Tournament.
The course was laid
out by old Tom Morris in 1850 and when you visit the course you
will see why it is still as difficult today as it was then. The
Newly built clubhouse facilities are well worth the green fees
alone whilst the museum and its unreplaceable artifacts chart
a history that is as fascinating as any in the world of golf.
If you manage too
drag yourself out onto the course look out for the Cardinal Bunker
on the 3rd hole which is the largest in the world and you will
soon be able to tell your friends that you were whipped by a Cardinal
and no it is not another scandal in the Clergy!!. Seriously though
this course should not be missed in any tour of Scotland but make
sure to plan your visit well in advance if to be sure of obtaining
your preferred times.
