The
spelling of golf has changed over the last few centuries and this
is the only club in the world to have retained the original spelling
of the old Scots tongue. this course differs from most in Ayrshire
in that it is a parkland course and not links.
It runs alongside
the A71 road and if you do not have a great tee shot you might
find yourself being assaulted by an irate driver! The course itself
deceives you as you think it is relatively flat but once you are
out on it you find that the hills to the back of the clubhouse
can be quite a rise.
the grounds are
in good condition and problems with drainage a few years back
can be dismissed as a fading memory. Years ago the turf from this
piece of Ayrshire countryside was supplied to Hampden Park on
a regular basis and the ground is not too far away from that again.
The clubhouse is modern and very welcoming and if you are a bagger
of different courses then this is the one for you.
