Adjacent
to its more famous neighbour and although situated in the town
of Irvine it is administered from the city of Glasgow and this
is where it draws most of its membership from Originally it became
the winter course for the city slickers but now has developed
into one of the county's top venues and allows visitors that rare
luxury of being able to play at the weekend on a private course.
The turf itself
is a thrilling adventure as no two holes are the same and are
almost all singularly designed with the player having to make
sure they produce the straightest of tee shots first time or they
might be into the heather and gorse which is in abundance here.
