One
of the three South Ayrshire Council Courses in the town of Troon
and perhaps the least well known of all the courses in this Mecca
for golfers. it is small compared to its neighbouring courses
but nevertheless provides visitors with the ideal venue to warm
up on before going to tackle its bigger name sisters.
The longest hole
is the first at 434 yards and the course represents great value
for money golf at around ten pounds. The course is great practice
for the links short game with small greens , tricky bunkers and
a plethora of par threes and accommodating par fours. Short it
may be, easily overcome it is not.
The course is best
played as a leisurely warm up in the morning prior to a tilt at
Lochgreen or Darley. The clubhouse which shares with Darley and
Lochgreen has newly upgraded changing rooms and offers full catering
facilities.
A tip for golfers
wishing to play on any of the three Municipal courses is that
they are adjoining the main Railway station and for visitors staying
in any destinations served by the Glasgow/Ayr/Kilmarnock train
services there really is no need to take the car or hire a minibus
leaving the pleasant problem of deciding which train to take home
over an extra whisky in the clubhouse.
