Darley
is one of Troon's less illustrious links courses but provides
an excellent golfing challenge at an affordable price and easy
access seven days a week. At just under 6500 from the back and
just over six thousand from the front the course is fairly easy
on the limbs but still provides some excellent golf holes.
The burn comes into
play on a number of holes and there are quite a few blind approaches.
The rough is a bit tougher in spots than neighbouring Lochgreen
and driving probably has to be a little more accurate. Quality
of greens is excellent; after the first hole the course moves
north providing four excellent short par three each with different
hazards around them.
The par fours are
relatively short with only three over four hundred yards but not
necessarily easy to hit. The course is well worth a visit and
with the Three Day Golf Pass makes an excellent few days golf
when combined with Lochgreen and nearby Belleisle. Like its sister
course Lochgreen the green fees are super value at under £20 and
it can be played on an unlimited golf pass - £60 for three days;
£85 for five days. The course shares its clubhouse facilities
with Lochgreen and Fullarton.
