Ideally
situated overlooking the golf course and Machrihanish Bay, the
view may be of a vivid sunset over the islands of Islay and Jura
or the spectacular sight of a team of gannets dive-bombing a shoal
of fish in the bay. Ardell House has eleven bedrooms, ten with
en-suite facilities. Three of the bedrooms are situated at the
rear of the house in converted stables overlooking the garden. All
the rooms are comfortable and well furnished with tea and coffee
making facilities and televisions. Ardell House gained the Guest
House of the Year Award for Scotland by the AA and the hotel has a
restricted license. Kintyre has a mild ‘Gulf Stream’ climate.
Palm trees abound. Snow is rare…and if it rains occasionally,
put on your macintosh! The countryside offers a wide variety to
explore and enjoy…from peaceful farmland to wild cliffs,
moorland, forests, sandy beaches and a visit to the famous Mull of
Kintyre Lighthouse. For the sportsman, fisherman, birdwatcher and
naturalist, there are endless opportunities to do great deeds and
see rare sights. Apart from four golf courses, there are
facilities for riding, tennis, bowling, putting, sailing, sea
angling, loch and river fishing for trout, indoor swimming and
unlimited walking and hiking.
