The Garth Hotel is
situated on the north end of the picturesque village square in the
heart of Grantown-on-Spey. Grantown dates back to the 1740's, when the
then Laird Grant saw the vision of Grantown to be born, grow and
prosper. The original part of the town is now the village square. The
Garth Hotel built in the 1850's was originally an Inn. Since then the
hotel has changed, but still retains a certain amount of Victorian
charm and character, a kind of combination of old meets new. All
eighteen bedrooms are tastefully decorated and individually furnished
with en-suite facilities, colour television, direct-dial telephone,
trouser press, hair drier and a hospitality tray. They also have
stunning views across beautiful countryside or over the Victorian
elegance of the town. Fine
hospitality is a keynote. Excellent bar meals are served throughout
the day, complemented by a fine selection of draught and bottled
beers, wines, spirits and, of course, a superb range of Malts - for
this is the start of the famous Malt Whisky Trail! The Hotel
restaurant is noted for its imaginative Dinner Menus which feature the
abundance of fresh local produce from river, loch and hill and the
renowned farming lands of Moray - Scotland's Larder.
