Rufflets
is one of the oldest established Country House Hotels in Scotland.
The house was built in 1924 as a private home for Mrs A.B
Gilroy, the widow of a Dundee jute baron, and was designed
by a well known Dundee architect Donald Mills, who also designed
the formal terraced garden to the south of the house.
This
turreted mansion house, set in ten acres of award-winning
gardens, has been privately owned and personally managed
by the Russell family since 1952, when the seven bedroom
house was converted into a small hotel. In those days country
house hotels were almost unheard of and Rufflets was regarded
as somewhat unique, not just in Fife, but in the whole of
Scotland.
The
house has been tastefully extended over the years and the
interior refurbished to match the exacting standards expected
of a small luxury country house. Service is friendly and
personal in the true sense of Scottish hospitality. We hope
you enjoy looking through this website and find something
to interest you. We look forward to hearing from you.
Rufflets
has 22 individually styled and tastefully decorated en-suite
bedrooms, furnished in a blend of contemporary and antique
styles, creating a homely ambience.
Some
rooms have four-poster and canopied beds and two newly refurbished
bedrooms have mini-bars. Four of our bedrooms now have jacuzzi
baths. A few rooms can be used as family rooms and these
have one double and one single bed with room for a travel
cot. There is also a family suite consisting of one double
bedroom, one twin bedroom with interconnecting bathroom.
Many
of the bedrooms are reserved for non-smokers and most have
garden views.
There
are three ground floor rooms in Rose Cottage in the Hotel
grounds, one of which has been specially adapted for guests
with mobility difficulties.
All
rooms are equipped with satellite television, radio alarm,
direct dial telephone, hospitality tray, trouser press and
hairdryer.
