This
undulating parkland course is set on the shores of Clew Bay in
the shadow of the Holy Mountain, Croagh Patrick.
As golf architect, Fred Hawtree (who also designed the new course
at St Andrews) puts it - "the nature of the terrain, part inland,
part seaside, the panorama it commands, and its golfing virtues,
combine to make it uniquely attractive and memorable.
"
The feature hole at Westport is the par 5 fifteenth which reaches
580 yards and demands a long carry over an inlet of Clew Bay.
