Some
wicked slopes and borrows on the immaculate greens, a huge 432
yard 17th which has a host of problems, and a dog-legged approach
to the two tier 18th green, are just some of the novel features
incorporated into this Paddy Merrigan designed course.
Beautifully
set on the banks of the River Suir the philosophy of the architect
was that "the design solution was in the landscape," and he sensitively
integrated the course into a landscape textured with mature trees,
rolling parkland and no less than five lakes.
This is a golfing tour-de-force. The clubhouse, a tastefully remodelled
coach house for the stately 18th century Faithlegg House, provides
fine food and wine and enjoys uninterrupted views of this charming
course.
