Royal
Portrush in Northern Ireland is steeped in history both golfing
and otherwise, being overlooked by the ruins of Dunluce Castle.
This course is the only one in Ireland to have hosted the Open
Championship in 1951 and is a firm favourite, being ranked by
many as one of Ireland's top Irish courses.
Royal
Portrush is a great test of any golfer's shot-making and nerve.
The club was founded in 1888, becoming Royal Portrush in 1893,
with King Edward VII as patron. It was famous not only for its
magnificent turf and superb golf holes but also for its lovely
setting.
Situated
east of Portrush it occupies a triangle of giant sand hills, with
an amazing backdrop of views - the Hills of Donegal in the West,
the Isle of Islay and Southern Hebrides in the North with the
Giants Causeway and the Skerries to the East.
