The
Belvoir Park Golf Club, Co. Antrim
was designed in 1927 by the celebrated British architect H.S.
Colt, Belvoir has certainly stood the test of time. This was evidenced
in 1995 when the club successfully staged the Smurfit Irish P.G.A.
Championship won by Ireland's Ryder Cup hero Philip Walton.
Fairways
lined with Scots pine, Douglas firs and many other magnificent
varieties create an unsurpassed ambience. It is a very difficult
task to nominate a signature hole at Belvoir-the par threes live
in the memory, but it is the dramatic 17th hole that most golfers
will remember. It is no surprise that esteemed golfers such as
Peter Alliss and Fred Daly have rated Belvoir Park as one of the
best inland courses in the British Isles.
Consistently
ranked in Ireland's Top 30 Greatest Golf Courses it will doubtless
stand the test of time and remain there for generations to come.
