Balmoral
Golf Club, founded in 1914, is less than 10 minutes drive from Belfast
city centre and is an ideal venue for any keen golfer. Although
comparatively flat in nature the course has been laid out with a
range of strategically placed trees. There are few clubs with a
par of 69 and an SSS of 70 and it can be appreciated therefore that
despite its comparative short length that Balmoral represents a
challenge for golfers of all abilities.
It is also worth noting that Balmoral has a rich golfing history
through its long association with the legendary Fred Daly, the
only Irishman to win the British Open, in 1947, and our unique
Ryder Cup connection. Balmoral has had a direct connection as
opposed to the award of Honorary membership/associations with
four Ryder Cup players: the great Fred Daly of course, Norman
Drew, Eddie Polland and more recently David Feherty.
